I was in a room with a number of people and there was a brown poisonous snake. And I was the designated person to remove the snake. When I tried, the snake wrapped itself around my hand and he bit me on my palm. I tried really hard to shake it off. I was somewhat frighten but not panicking. When I managed to remove the snake, I saw two punctured holes on my palm and I was bleeding. My initial response was to do nothing. A little while later I started feeling as if I was not going to make it and so I walked toward a friend and asked for help. Two doctors came in. One gave me a shot in my arm. I felt my heart beating really fast. The doctor explained that it was normal. Then I started feeling like I was going to faint. I also wanted to throw up. After throwing up, I slowly regained my strength. And I knew I would survive. There was a strange feeling of compassion and gratitude. I experienced a very positive emotion and went to both the physicians with a smile and gave them each a hug, There was a sense of transformation taking place.
Here is the interepretation of the snake symbol in dreams I found on the internet:
Snakes as Symbols of Initiation
In many dreams a single snake will come to bite you, and you may in fact be bitten after a brief struggle. To your amazement though, you will not die, and may find that the situation is not as bad as you thought. This type of dream can come when you have been fighting for your life with some problem, relationship or challenge. Such a snake-ordeal is an important signal that you are going through a kind of initiation; a psychological and spiritual trial that has the potential to change your life for the better if you deal with it bravely and with a clear heart. You may have to give up something you thought you couldn’t, or take a stand for your principles or faith. This type of dream is responsible for the widely held belief that “snakes represent transformation.” In my opinion, these dreams state the potential for growth and transformation inherent within a current difficulty. But to harvest this promise, you must walk through your fears and be willing to let go of the old in order to gain the rewards of the future.
thats an interesting interpretation of your dream…one worth pursuing
Thanks Ryna. I normally hate snakes…actually I have a kind of phobia when it comes to snakes. However this interpretation is good for me, it turns snakes into something hopeful.
An analysis from a dream dictionary:
Snake
To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you.? Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can’t be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.
______________
I refer to this online dream dictionary often and most times the definitions of the symbols I search are correct in what is happening in my waking life. But the way in which I interpret my own dreams is not always by the symbols, but moreover what I am feeling in the dream. I pay attention to the kind of reaction I have to the symbols in the dream. Although I do consider the symbols, but I try to analyze how they can somehow be a metaphor for something occuring in my waking life. Like other waking experiences, I think that dreams are just as worthy to be attended to in helping us navigate our lives.
Please share insight my spouse and I have been separated on and off. We have separate homes. But every time he comes over to stay I dream of snakes. One in particular where the snake is biting or attempting to bite my right arm. And my spouse is the one to wake me as I’m fighting the snake loose of my arm.
Thanks for sharing such an interesting dream. The dream is so brief and filled with meaning and implications regarding your spouse (which now lives separately). I’m just wondering what type of anxiety does his presence bring to you. What goes through your thought whenever he comes over to your place. Is there anything significant about the right arm as well? Right arm seems to imply the core of your functionality (if you are right handed of course).
I’m so glad to find another person who is interested in dreams. I can sit and talk for a very long time about dreams…especially if I do not get charged (like in a therapy session) 😉 I like your point about paying attention to the feeling in the dreams itself. It can be revealing. And your last line about navitating life…I totally agree.
My family is very much into interpreting dreams and from our interpretation snakes in a dream signify that an enemy is trying to get you or is after you with the intend of harming you and your future. We view this as a very bad symbol and requiring that the person who had the dream be more careful in the next few days and be wary of those who may mean then harm. In my family, at least the older generation, we try to be very aware of what our dreams may be trying to tell us. This way we gather information from our living world, as well as our dream world, so we can make better choices in life.
Nishana, this sounds scary. I’m so glad there is an alternate interpretation. But this is a good point..which direction are we going to go in our interpretation. Even Jung would not go for a universal interpretation…he would ask for specifics in dreams and the context of the dreamer before launching into interpretation.
I am not to familiar with the interpretation of dreams, but it is very interesting anyway. More than a meaning, I believe that dream are just an expression of a reality outside of our hands. What I am trying to say is that a dream is an empthy place in our lifes when we are able to do whatever we want without restrictions or judgment from society and ourselves. If something is almost imposible to do in our “real life”, we are able to do it or reach it in our own “dreamy reality”. From this perspective, I could say that your interpretation of your own dream is only the desire to fight against ” fear” and you symbolize it as a snake, probably because snakes as other things in the life have been related with fear. For me to dream with a snake means nothing that just a pretty reptile.
Yes…I agree…”snake” has a certain meaning for me in particular besides the more archetypal symbol it carries. And so, how snakes appear in your dream may be totally different.
I really don’t know much about dreams. To be honest, I haven’t found that I’m missing a big piece of myself by not analyzing what I dream. I do agree with the notion that what I dream reflects what I live in my “waking life,” but haven’t found that by analyzing said dreams, my life would be all the better. Maybe I am missing out, though. I wouldn’t mind looking deeper into the inner workings of my subconscious, I just haven’t found the need as of yet. I do know that I have often awoken disturbed or intrigued from something I had experienced within my dreams, and have asked people to interpret what they think they mean. Perhaps this class will encourage me to look deeper into what I dream.
Pls advice me last night i dream lots of snake hiding on the ground and when my eldest daghter pass by he bite my daughter on her foot.I need more comfortable life but i always dream invlove snakr.
I too, don’t know much about interpreting dreams except that I do pay attention to how the dream makes me feel when I awaken. Often, I only remember bad dreams, or those that leave me with a particular feeling that caused me to wake up. However, in this dream although you were somewhat fearful of the snake, you came close enough to allow it to bite you, and even then you were not initially alarmed. So if this is about a challenge or situation causing transition, it appears that your apprehension about it was at least initially minimal. I thought even more interesting was the appearance of helpers (the doctors) and your feelings and gratitude toward them. Any thoughts on this aspect of the dream?
Kristin, I think you are right about your life. Freud once said ‘sometime a cigar is just a cigar.’ Not everything in dreams is significant. And many people go through life without analyzing their dreams and they seem happy and contented. In fact I believe that dream in itself is therapeutic. It is the expression of the unconscious in itself that can allow the expression of the inner ‘us’ within the world of dreams. Hence it can in itself be beneficial without us having to analyze them. My sense is, for me and many like myself who do have a sense of insanity to an extend (depression in my case), the depth of us is buried deeper and dreams are great tool to bring that to the conscious level so the integration will take place.
Lori, you asked a great question about the helpers. I like to call this a healer. ‘Healer’ I think is a very important archetype. In this case, the healing is the one who points me to the fact that confronting fear is painful and fearful, but it will not kill me. The healing aspect of this dream is the recognition that what I’m fearful of does not destroy me. And I should learn to let it go. So while snakes symbolize fear, it also symbolize new birth itself. I’m thinking of Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness.
I found your dream very interesting. My family has never put any interest or focus into our dreams. I have always seen my dreams as reflecting on day and thoughts. I have never analyzed one before. However, I find it very interesting and want to learn more about it.
Dreams…”Sparkles of Sanity”
I wonder what the throwing up would symbolise? Was it the rxn to the antivenom, or regurgitating something that was a deep part of you, that no longer served a purpose because it was sapping your strength? (You felt your strength returning after throwing up.) Am I reading too much into this, or…What could’ve been withholding your strength? And I’m curious also that it took a snake bite – a transformation – to get your strength back? It fascinates me that it is pain that often precedes a breakthrough, unlike the man (Jacob?) in the Bible who wrestled the angel all night, in order to receive his insight. Is there any angelic qualities in snakes or vice versa? Man, I’m really way off-track here.
My favourite dream is that of Kekule who discovered the chemical structure of benzene after much study and toil. He dreamt of the actual structure but the bonds were represented by snakes! Now I’m wondering about what other factors in Kekule’s life that were involved in his dream, besides the tremendous breakthrough in molecular chemistry!
I have a recurring dream that has haunted me for more than three decades, and noone has ever figured it out – neither have I:
I am traveling in an ambulance that is traversing the beach. I was dressed in a nun’s habit – black and white, covered head, the traditional “habit” – when suddenly, I notice that someone is in distress. The ambulance stops, I jump out, and as I tear off my nun’s habit, I am in my lifeguard uniform (red swimsuit with approp. emblems). I run through the surf and suddenly I locate a woman and her child who appear to be drowning a few feet beyond. I begin swimming to the woman and child and am aware that there is a big
“water dog” (either a labrador, or a newfoundland) who is swimming beside me. When I come upon the woman and child, I tread water helplessly, as I realise that they are spinning down a “black hole” and that I can not swim into it. The dog dives, and appears to save them, and together, the dog and I bring the woman and child to shore. But I am wrong, only one of them has been brought out of the “black hole” in the ocean. One of them is still lost, or drowned. We are sitting in the surf, the dog and I and one survivor.
And I wake up.
I am so excited about rereading Moore’s chapter. When I first read it, I had not even considered doing the MFT/MPH program; so, the chapter you selected for us to read was really a thrill!
Those insights into the “shadow” are stupendous. Moore’s questions to his clients are absolutely astounding and I catch myself wondering, “How would I EVER be able to see things so freshly – the way that Moore can do?
To use the darkness to illumine what is truly hidden – as in the contrast in an X-ray – to see beyond the client’s “problem” and find the gift! How do I learn to do that?
Perhaps I must learn to GIVE UP and REST!
“Still, there is always room for great hope. For at every level of despair there is the possibility of giving up. In the midst of every dimension of delusion there are sparkles of sanity” (May, XXXX, p.45).
Give up what? And when?
There is a special program on PBS tomorrow night (10, July) at 8 p.m. on DREAMS presented by Nova (the smart science people)
Gerald May’s book was autobiographical and published in 1993.
Joy, I do not know how to answer your question but I will think about it. Regarding your dream, the thing I notice ofcourse is the need to help, to rescue and this needs is motivated by traditional religious perspective. It also sh ow adaptability when you had your swimming cloth underneath to jump in and help. The other interesting thing is that there is almost someting beyond your power that can offer rescue and at the same time, there is limitation because, even with that magical power, you can’ t save them all.
I know very little about dreams or symbols and situations are represented by things seen and done in dreams. From my own knowledge of snakes I would have believed that the snake represented some hard. What I found interesting is that I was focused on the fact that in your dream the snake bit you in your palm. For me, palms reflect ones past, present and future. The palms of a farmer are certainly different from those of a teacher and in order to get a glimpse into ones future, people generally have their palm read. As a result, it seems to me that the snake bite indicated possible harm to the present situation or a future situation.
I have some questions about dreams and I trust some one will be able to provide an answer. If indeed dreams are products of the unconscious, feeding from our predominant events and thoughts, then how instructive can dreams be. What really is the relevance of dreams if they are generated from that source?
I grew up hearing that certain symbols or objects were bad omens. A snake, as Nashana said indicates that an enemy is trying to harm you. Well there goes my question, how can my dreams inform me that an enemy has it for me. Did the dream material or generator confer with the enemy? How did that information get converted into a dream? I am not skeptical, I am just being careful with what I believe.
I believe in dreams, the ones recorded in the scriptures. I think the difference between the two is the source. In scripture God used dreams to speak to people. In real life my dream is a product of my mind.
Thanks for your questions. Again I need to say, who can really be sure what dreams may convey? Dreams therapists take four years to really come to a better understanding. I just think that dreams do reflect that which is in the unconscious…and to me I rather restrict this to the level of the unconscious. However, there is also another element…call it archetype or the divine image, or the holy spirit. There is something within us that interacts with us at the unconscious level to convey something to us…not so much about enermy etc. but about the essense of who we are, areas we need to face and confront, or grow.
I find the idea of analyzing dreams to help us interpret ourselves, learn about the unconcious self, to be interesting, and for some people I can see where this may realy help them confront fear, work out problems, and grow…I have never really spent much time analyzing dreams because I myself rearly can remember my dreams. They say everyone dreams but I usually have no recollection of dreams. On the rear occassion that I do remember my dream they are very emotional and have a feeling of being very real, so real that when I awake I do not know if I dreamed it or if it really took place.
The reality of your dream, that is so fascinating. To remember dreams, I was told, one has to be very intentional before going to sleep. About your dreams, it is fascinating that it could feel so real. The unconscious really can pick up so many details that we may not be aware of.
I often wondered why you were the on elected to remove the snake in the first place? Someone else could have done it but for some reason they chose you depsite the risk to your life. How spiritual is that? I have found have risked much in dreams and when I awoke sometimes I felt the an extreme vulnerable loss or an emotion void. Although I didn’t understand it the risk despite the feeling has lead to personal transformation. In your case I guess I would take a sense of comfort that others elect you to risk and transform. If all of us had friends like that. That indeed is a holy place to be.
Wow…that is a perspective I’ve not thought about. The community that provides healing and offer transformation…the community that makes it possible to take the risk of vulnerability and to know that even in our vulnerability, we will survive.
dr. siroj, i want to know which interpretation of the dream is true (or came true) for you?? i think dreams are a means by which our unconscious can be our own personal therapist, or a means by which other psychic energy can enter our awareness. i believe we are much more intelligent than we give ourselves credit for. the unconscious and realm of dreams is an aspect of our intelligence that we have yet to grasp.
Sarah, you raised a very good question and your point that connects dreams with intelligence is something to ponder. I think there is a much richer source of wisdom in the unconscious but out obsession with linear/logical/analytical thinking has prevented us to tapping into the more intuitive aspect of us. Regarding what comes true, it is more about finding a sense of hope in images of the dreams and at times, guidance. Not so much the event but an attitude.
I must confess before I say anything, that I really do not consider myself a good interpreter of dreams; I’m no Joseph. My interpretations usually are fairly literal, because I think it would be easy to be carried away with symbolism and end up with something far from the true meaning. I believe that dreams are usually a way of connecting with the unconscious mind and only on occasion are they sent by God. I would interpret your dream and you simply facing something that you fear. Perhaps you are facing your own death, as that is a theme in the dream.
I rarely remember my dreams, but there is one that stands out in my memory. It is probably one of the only dreams I have ever felt a need to interpret. In the dream I woke up, got out of bed, and walked to the door. As I opened the door I woke up, got out of bed, and walked to the door. I woke up again, got out of bed, and walked to the door. I will spare you the monotony of reading this several times and simply explain that it happened several times consecutively. When I really did wake up I sat there in bed wondering if I was really awake and if I would suddenly be in bed the next time I opened the door. My interpretation is quite literal; when I look back on that time in my life I really felt that my life was going nowhere. I hypothesize that my psyche was simply trying to convey that I was bored with life and needed to do something more constructive. Some may say that this is too simple of an interpretation, but I would rather not get too far away from the facts of the dream and wind up with something completely wrong.
Thanks for sharing this Ben. I do think that even this dream that you have is symbolic. The circula motion in your dream is that very symbol of going around in a circle in your life and I think it is a way of your unconscious self speaking to you. As you stated, dreams reflect the unconscious self.
Everyone has different meanings for their dreams but a few symbols are universal. You must ask God to help you understand the meaning. First a snake is an enemy or someone who looks for hurt you. Pay attention to it’s colors , did it bite you? did you feel pain? did you run from it? did you kill it? These questions will provide you will important answers. If it bit you , you will bit or hurt by this person, if you ran in your dream then that means you try to escape from this person, if you killed it then you will have victory them. You will NOT see a snake in your dream for no reason! Pay attention to it God is trying to tell you about somenone! Next…. A kiss in a dream means seperation. If you see a dream where you kiss your spouse then you know that you will be apart for a time , if you see your kid kiss you then he/she will leave you ,it could be for a very short time , you must pay attention to your situation. Is your kid soon to go away to college? Does you spouse have a job that makes he/she travel? If so , you will now know that they will go based off of a kiss in a dream . Next… this will sound weird but it is true…… poop is money lol i know it sounds crazy but any time you see any kind of poop in a dream it means you will get some money. I hope this helps someone. Take Care and God Bless
Thank you Sev for your comments about dreams. I always appreciate various possible insights into the understanding and the meaning of dreams. I have thought much about poop though…hmmm…something to dream about!!!
Thanks for sharing your interpretation of your dream. Snakes have, prominently, figured in my dreams since childhood. I was never near snakes but I’ve an irrational fear of them. In my dreams they never bite me, they just appear and, invariably, each ‘snake dream’ augurs a very difficult period in my life. I’ve waken up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat and in a state of panic when a snake appeared in my dreams. It’s horrible to live in the fear they fill me with after. Once only I felt OK after the dream, because in it the snake appeared in the middle of my path and I’d jump over it and leave it behind. In retrospect now I see that it was exactly what I did when a very poisonous person appeared in my life. I left her behind, jumped over it and tried to ignore her actions, when the correct action would have been to deal with the problem.
Appreciate your response and your stories. I can certainly identify with you in relation to fear. I’m very fearful of snakes. It almost symbolizes death to me. I like your interpretation of your dream. There is alot of fear in my life and I think these dreams point to the need to explore my fear, pause and look at these snakes even when they are poisonous.
Your interpretation of snake dreams was very interesting to me. When I was a child, I used to have a re-occurring dream that I was being chansed by a snake in my back yard. It was an enormous black snake and it would nip at my heals while I was running. However, it never got me. I would get to that back door and shut is just in time. I had always thought of this dream as symbolic of my struggle to be who I was and not who the rest of the worl “expected” me to be. As a child, I remember being faced with the choice whether or not to go along with what I was told and how I was raised or to question all of it and form my own opinions.
Many of us take that moment to take in information when an unexpected or upsetting event takes place. At first we feel numb or helpless and do nothing until we know we must launch into action. The bite of the snake was the experience and the urge to do nothing was the pause to assess the situation. Once you knew you needed help, you took the necessary steps to obtain it. After we know we must react to an event, we have several ways to go about it, whether to solve the issue on our own or to seek guidance and help from others. In this case, you chose to seek help from others knowing you could not solve the problem by yourself. Also, let’s look at the fact that you were designated to get rid of the snake. You solved a problem for others (like my comment on your first dream, maybe you are more concerned about the wellbeing of others than yourself), however you only called on the help of others when it was evident that you really needed it. Interesting…
Julie, I have many many snake dreams and somehow it is getting less and less. However some of the most significant dreams in my life have to do with snakes. I like to think that snake represents transformation of the self. I really appreciate your perspective here because that is e xactly what I’m processing in my life trying to find a voice and a soul.
Stephanie, you always have a very affirming way of looking at life and people and the positive aspects they bring. This is evident in the way you look at this dream. It is wonderful to find someone who seek out the positive, the possibility in others. Thanks.
I could see how a snake could represent a transformation, as when a snake sheds its skin, it releases a new, inner self that was previously covered by the dead sheet of skin. The fact that you did not panic when the snake was around your arm may signify that you are not afraid of change, or a transformation. You dealt with it and moved on, asking for help only when needed. Many would panic in that situation, which sheds a lot of light into the person you are compared to those who panic in the face of change. People tend to get too comfortable in their lives, so it frightens them when a change or transformation occurs… But maybe the change is for the better, and it is better to accept it and grow from it, then be scared of it and let it bring you down… Just a thought!
Melissa, I like your point about transformation and your interpretation of the dream…it sounds very hopeful. Perhaps the dream happens happen at a pretty good moment in my life.
to be bitten by a snake on the palm of the hand means a woman will cheat on. The snake is about female seduction. (about medicine too but depending on the context)
I dreamed I was bitten by a snake on the left palm of my hand. It hurt. and it was painful for it happened on January 1st. The typical evil blonde chose that day to seduce my boy friend. I had to wait 8 months to know it.
So i am afraid that the bleeding is for a terrible pain. In my case, my boy friend realized how evil she was and stopped the relation. In short this lady was jealous of the complicity of our relationship. She did represent all what the Snake is : deceit, seduction, lies, hidden violence and contempt for any person showing tenderness.
Sexuality is always associated with snakes. If the snake is white is can be the normal desire between 2 partners. Also It is about fertility like for fishes.
The colour is very important. If white, it is okey. Of course the Snake of the caducea is for Kundalini. The ascending.descending simultaneous energy of the Spine. I know for I felt it. It is like growing of size and diminishing of size at same time.
Snake is about Knowledge too. Which can cause suffering. I know. Ilive with the kind of knowledge that makes one incredibly lonely.
But in your case, treason is there. Millions of women and men experience that. Not all are warned. If You are warned it means you will overcome it all because you got the Psychic Inside Wisdom (snake) to understand that and get stronger. all the best
Thank you for your view on this dream. I have not thought of it this way. My approaach to dream has often been to see it as a reflection of the inner self and not any access to events around me. I do agree too that snake can also symbolize sexuality and knowledge. I wonder about your statement “I live with the kind of knowledge that makes one incredibly lonely.” What do you mean by this?
hey can u pl help me i always get snake dreams in which they never bite me but just try to convey me something and they are always poisonuos cobras but recently i dreamt of a white cobra which was trying to convey me something i always get afraid abt these pl try to convey me whats all gooin on??
I’m not an expert in dream interpretation but I always like to try interpreting. According to Robert Johnson the most important thing in dream interpretation is to first do a free association with the image as in freudian psychoanalytic method. So what words come to mind with poisonous snake, white, etc. When with the various possibility from free association, you may want to narrow down that which has the most meaning to you. What does white represent to you and what does it mean not to be beaten by a snake? I hope this helps some. Let me ponder this as well but I would like to know what these images mean to you.
last night i had a dream of waking up and a pile of snakes was by me and as i raised up the cobra struck at me but miss as i was struggle with it it bite me on my thumb but i was still struggle with him i see myself tying his tail with one of the calmer snakes and manage to get a sheet to through over them suddenly i see my baby fall on top of the sheet then i see my self hysterically yelling at her to get up (she did not get bitten in the dream)but i manage to put a bucket over them(i never see myself getting sick from the bite or feeling weak) could you plz tell me what does this mean…thank you
Thanks for sharing this dream. I’m not an expert on dream interpretation. But I do have some curiosity. My first thought is, what does snake represent to you? What symbol does it carry? Because it can be different to different people. For me personally it represents something that I’m fearful of. It is interesting that you have encountered two snakes with descriptions. One is aggressive and the other not as aggressive. I wonder if this represents different levels of anxiety which may have specific and concrete representation to you. Is there anything in your life right now that is threatening you? The threat may be external or it may be internal refering to the threat of the essential core of who you are as a person. I think there may also be the fear that this threat may heard someone you care about (represented by the baby). Or the baby may also refer to the innocent part of you that you feel the need to protect. My final thought is the fact that you were bitten but is not affected by the bit seems to strongly suggest to you that things that you fear may hurt you does not really hurt you as bad. You will survive and perhaps come out of it even stronger. Just a thought.
My 6 year old daughter is getting snake dreams. Middle of the night, she wakes up at once and searching all over her bed. Seems like she is getting a dream of snakes crawling around her.
She is so scared to sleep after that.
We are trying to explain her snakes are harmless, think of some thing else which is more pleasant etc.. but for last couple of days she is not having good sleep, she is very much frightened with snake dreams..
Before this last week I explained about some reptiles and specially King Cobra ,showing her some pictures from a animal science book. Least I was aware, thats going to have this big impact on her..
Can you please suggest me some thing that can make her feel comfortable…
I’m not sure if I have a good answer to your question. My hunch is the photos you showed her and explained to her may be an external stimuli that evoke something already present within her, some sort of fear that now has an external form. For the immediate, I wonder if recreating a more friendly image of snakes can be of some help. Snakes that are non-poisonous or stories of many who survive or many methods of taking care of snake bite. At the same time I wonder if something she came across that evoke a fear in her. Some of the fear may be not as scarely but it is so in a child’s mind. I hope this can be of some help.
I had a dream where I stole some coins ( loose change and I knew it was nickel dime stuff, in my dream, I didn’t even know why i took a handful, it was just there ) .
As I exited the room I noticed a Boa constrictor moving out of the way and to my left. ( it was brown with black spots or diamonds )
As I approached the street I noticed a puddle and I just knew, the Boa had laid a trap , but I kept walking and sure enough the puddle was a deep pool. As i lost my footing the Boa went for my right arm bit deeply and wrapped itself around my arm. No pain, just questions as I awoke.
This is a fascinating dream. I wonder about the significance of the meaning of coins, the door and the act of stealing to you? And also why does is the puddle a trap since it can mean many things but to do it seems like a trap. But some how you seem to be able to manage and to move forward even when things seem scary and thus you were not hurt by the attack. Very interesting.
Well, I came across this page searching for the meaning of a dream i had of a white snake. After reading few posts, I’m more confused as to what my dream might mean. Here it is:
i was sitting with some sort of a box or sandbox in my lap. I look down in it, I see a coiled white snake of average size. The snake and I make eye contact. I don’t feel threatened as the snake looks ‘peaceful’ and not about to harm me. I was actually at ease, and viewed the snake with curiosity if anything. The snake emerges from the box then quickly morphs into a woman that is suddenly sitting to my left, leans her head on my shoulder, and hold on to my arm in a rather romantic way. After that, the woman and i spend time together going places. We come to a particular place where she knows a man, who seems hostile and mean towards her and has a bone to settle with her. I tell her, I can be with you and help you settle it, she says no, I’ll settle it alone.
In real life, I’m in the final stage of a nasty divorce. Life with the soon-to-be ex was practically psychological hell.
But I recently met another woman. I’m very attracted to her, and do not know much about her yet. She’s actually in my thoughts all my waking time. The strangest part of the dream, is that, the woman the snake morphs into is the new woman I met!!
Also, in real life, that woman I met recently is also going through divorce.
I’m scratching my head as to what this means. I’ve spent hours searching online for snake dreams. Maybe the meaning is in front of me, but… any thoughts?
Hi, thanks for sharing your dream. It is hard to offer any thought on this since I do not know much about your. But if I were to just guess, I do wonder if this snake may represent your passion in life. I find it intriguing that you had a snake in a box on your lap, is it possible that this white snake represent your passion that is pure and innocent and nicely placed in a bo, peaceful. And that the person you are doing going with has in some ways evoke a different type of passion that makes it leap out of the box, a type of passion that you do not quite know what to do with and it is not neatly contained in the box. It has lead you way beyond your ‘peaceful non-threatening’ self to a different realm. Just a thought.
sirojs, thanks alot for such quick response. I did not expect it 🙂
Building on your thoughts, I’d say: I approach life with passion in everything I do, yet I am rather simple .. I do not have envy or enmity towards anyone as long as I am left alone. I have never met someone that understands or appreciates who/what I am. It could be this new woman that will.
I like your thought on this. I will reflect more on it as things develop. I feel it is a significant dream for me. thanks again.
hi sirojs
i dreamt 3 days back a snake dream which ,am worried about.
i was watching conversation of two persons , immediately ,i heard a laughing kind of sound which was i felt friendly for me. suddenly i came to know the sound from my two closed palms, then i saw a hood of a black small cobra looking friendly towards me in my hands. i wanted to throw it ,but its remaining part of the body wrapped my hands. its hood was in my hands ,if i leave the hood it may bite me. then suddenly i woke up.
This entry was interesting to me because I remember when i was a child, i used to have a dream that someone was always chasing after me. I would be far ahead of that, but knowing that the person is right behind me makes me slow down and I can’t run even though i try to. I wonder why i have such dreams. It occured over and over again. To this day, i still dont’ know hwy.
I had a dream about several snakes around my bed whist i was sleeping. I wake up and notice that they are camouflaged and tightly knotted or curled up. I scream out and people come and get them and take them away. Some of the snakes struggle with these people. Somebody tries to calm me down. In my dream i then go back to sleep. I woke up from this dream quite frightened.
Please help me understand this dream!
Hi Linda, I am really not an interpreter of dream but I do have curiosity and love to ponder its meaning. I think my question to you is first if there’s any anxiety surrounding sleep or any related to sleep? To different people snakes represent fear and it also represents healing (if we are able to confront them in our conscious life). Snakes during sleep may possibly refer to a deep anxiety that you are not conscious off. You know it is there but you do not quite know what it is about. But it also may mean other things depending on your life situation. You may wish to ask yourself about your sleep or things related. Camouflaged again seems like things that are there but you do not quite know what it is. It bothers you but you could not identify although there’s a possibility of great danger as far as your intution is concern. There’s also that community that comes to your rescue I think and this seems very positive to me as you go through whatever you are going through. It also seems to be there even with the community and the people trying to calm you, there’s something about this that only you could make it go away. Others can’t do this for you. they can only be a support. This is just the impression I gather from your dream. It may be or may not be right. Just a guess. Hope you find healing as you go through your life.
Last nite I dreamed that I was trying to enter the house I grew up in with my sister and dad. A snake was slithering around on the ground near the door. My dad made it inside but my sister and I had not. I jumped up onto a trash can and the snake slithered underneath me. I jumped off the trash can over the snake but it followed me and bit me on the behind. I woke up and felt my husband hand on my butt. What do u think this could mean!
Hi Crystal, every one has his or her own meaning of symbols and so yours may be different. However often the house is that intimate place of a person or his or her soul. The door the house is perhaps the place where your soul or your heart can be most readily accessed and yet their is a snake there. Again snakes mean different thing but your response in the dream seems to point to the symbol of fear. It could be fear of intimacy or fear that prevents you from entering the most intimate part of who you are. Avoid the snake by jumping on the trash…it could be ‘trash’ that is keeping you from facing whatever you have to. Being bitten at the end could mean that even when you are trying to avoid, you could not get away from being hurt. I do not know what your husband hand on your butt really mean. Again all these symbols could mean different thing to different people and perhaps you need to ask yourself what does the house, the door, the trash, the snake and being bitten mean to you personally.
i had a dream. Me and some of my old friends are walking down the snowy mountain. The left side of the trail has grass. As we continue walking there’s a red snake in the middle of the trail. the snake was alerted as i turn to the grassy part of the trail there’s another red snake coiled.. .we ran in backwards the snake in front of us is so aggressive and attacked us. i grabbed one of my friend and ran but the snake is too fast that he bit one of my friend beside me. i continue to ran but there are so many red snakes all over the place. there’s a ladder ahead and at the top of that ladder is like a terrace and there’s a two toddlers there a boy and a girl.. .with a blond lady and a male teenager.. .shouting at me “hurry!” then i pulled all 0f my strength and jumped as high as i can reach the top of the ladder.
Thank you for sharing your dream. I’m not quite sure what this dream mean. wondering what green grass represents to you? do you think red snakes in some way refer to certain fear that you have, the fear that seems more then the ordinary and the sense of being overwhelmed by them. wondering too if the boy and the girl at the end of the ladder may speak of the desire to go back to the time prior, time of more innocent period when things were simpler because it seems as if it is just at the surviving mode at the time just barely making it through. Just a thought.
My little boy dream that we were at my sisters house and there were a lot of brown snakes. It was me, my husband, my daughter, himself, my mother, my father, my sister and her husband. But we were all inside the house then the snakes came and hug us, it is now me my husband, my daughter and my son. I just want to know what the meaning of the dream is.
Hi, I’m not an expert in dream interpretation but I do find your son’s dream rather interesting. It seems that the theme of the dream evolves around family relationship. The movement of anxiety with a larger family to a greater sense of security and warmth within his own immediate family. I’m not sure what brown snakes refer to but brown seems a color of something earthy. I do not know if this make any sense to you. Thanks for sharing your son’s dream.
Hello there, I was just passing through and have read many interesting things on this page about serpent in dreams.
Two days ago I had a vivid dream about a black cobra kissing my face and hands, it also flick its tongue against my skin. The dream didn’t bother me in anyway, I was actually sort of happy when I woke up.
I am just wondering if there is any special symbol behind all of this. A serpent does always mean a bad omen does it. In the medical world, serpent portray a curative symbolism, and in many cultures it also represent something eternal life and worship for being sacred.
Just wondering…cheerios!!!
Dear Valentine, Dreaming of snakes seem so common and my site receives so many inquiries coming in pertaining to snakes and dreams all the time. Our subconscious minds speak in symbols and that’s why this is intriguing. Snakes can mean different thing to different people and the first question is what is this to you. It is true that snakes can also symbolize passion and healing. My take, in general, is that snake my represent fear or anxiety and the healing comes when one is able to over come whatever is anxiety provoking for oneself. And so snakes appear when there are issues that one needs to confront and once confronted and deal with, it does bring about needed healing for oneself. This seems to be the case with your dream if I’m reading this in an appropriate context. That the things that are fearful or anxiety provoking (even deathly since you are refering to cobra) has turned out to be something of comfort and healing. Let me know your thought on this.
Dear Sirojs,
Thank you for a wonderful reply. Like many others I am too very afraid of snakes but in the mean time I also respect and in awe of them. Coming from an Asian background, we often regard snakes as a symbol of eternal life because of the peeling of their skin as they renew themselves.
I often dreamed of serpents, in different colors and in different situation, but never violence as in the snake is biting or swallowing me. But this time in my dream, the cobra fully hooded-out (a sign of threatened, provoked, or regal like the serpents worshiped in Cambodia, Thailand, and India) and it did not face me, I was seeing the cobra from behind with its hood fully spanned and a vivid white color marking of the king cobra. Then the scene change and it was kissing my face and hands.
In regards to your reply about healing, I find this exceptionally interesting. I just got over a period of a very emotional relationship, and now I am rebuilding a part of myself back together. In a sense, I want to be reborn, and developed into a better self, more mature and more independent.
Thank you for your quick reply. I enjoyed reading your post. I am a Vietnamese Canadian currently teaching fashion design in Saigon. I’ve been doing this for almost 3 years after I graduated. I’m beginning to enjoyed myself more and more each day here in a very different part of the world.
I am very spiritual, so thanks to site like yours, it really keep me grounded in my busy everyday schedule.
Thanks again,
Valentine Vu Anh Ho Nguyen
Hi Valentine,
It is good to hear your response to your dream and its possible meaning and also to understand the very spiritual nature of yourself as a person. It is so interesting to hear of a Vietnamese returning to teach fashion design in Saigon. What do you enjoy about being in Saigon? And how is it different from Canada? Have a wonderful week.
Dear Sirojs
Being in Saigon give me the chances of being independent and free from my family in Canada. In addition, I got the chance to re-learn my root, re-experience traditional value, and explore Asia with Saigon being my base. In opinion, Canada and Vietnam are places that called home, it’s really not that much different once you get use to it. The only thing that I found different is the fast-pace culture of Vietnam compared to the more structured culture of the Western world. I’ll be happy living in anywhere really, I’m a Sagittarius, a nomad till the very end…thank you for replying and please enjoy and take care.
Cheers,
Valentine Vu
I had a dream of a snake slithering all over me. I pretended to be asleep and it went away. Just, as I sat up it came up behind me and bit me in the nape of my neck.
I did’nt die but, I felt the energy in my body just going and I felt myself getting weaker.
I would very much like to know what this could mean. This is my first time dreaming of being bitten. I have had dreams of snakes before picking them up and putting them in bags, but not bitten by one.
Thanks for sharing your dream. I’m not a dream interpreter…I’m just curious. I wonder though thought you could avoid the issue (pretended to be asleep) however when you thought it has passed, it came back and facing this has kind of drained you. It seems as if in the past you were able to contain it (picking them and putting them in bags) but this time, it affected you. what do you think about the snake bitting you in the nape of your neck?
Hello Sirojs,
I find your blog posts very interesting and enriching the knowledge of the self.
I’m going through some tough times with events changing course unexpetedly leaving me startled. Just one day ago I was emotionally fragile due to my situation. Last night I had a dream with me carrying around a long box with a loosely closed lid. My purpose in the dream is to transport this box to a particular place and I’m very serious about this, although I had to place the box to rest at different places other than the destination. The box contains a snake and I am aware of this and hence my seriousness about taking the box to the right place, also because of the loose lid. I am not afraid in the dream.
I do not remember anything more but something happened which woke me up. I was extremely anxious upon waking up, it was 4AM. The dream came upon me almost immediately upon my waking conciousness and this gripped me with some sort of fear. I even lit a candle in front of my faith almost robotically/intuitively!
I’m wondering what you have to say about this.
Snakes to me in general are very exotic, pleasantly mysterious and powerful creatures whom I like and fancy.
I also just arrived from my travel between cultures: I was in India for a while and returned to Germany for my work.
I think the dream could represent my constant travel but I am not convinced, perhaps it represents my feeling of ‘mental homelessness’ but I’m not sure and can’t explain my fear and anxiety after waking up.
Look forward to your perspective/s,
Sangeetha
Hi Sangeetha,
I’m very fascinated by your dream mainly because for you snakes represent something mysterious and exotic. In the dream you were not afraid of the snake. You described mental homelessness. I do wonder if in some way you find yourself represented in this snake as well…as being mysterious and exotic. And the journey that you are on is trying to bring this mystery from one culture to another in order that if the other culture is able to appreciate the mystery, then you can find a home. so you try to take this to a different destination. A loosely closed box is interesting to me. Sounds almost like the mystery itself cannot be boxed in. it also appears as if you have not been successful at getting this other culture to come to appreciate this exotic mystery that you bring with you….so something tragic perhaps happens at the destination that wake you up?! I’m not quite sure what it is. do you have any recollection at all about what took place before you woke up?
Hello Sirojs,
It’s really nice to read your response, thanks for taking the interest in discussing it with me.
Your words make sense.
Its been a while that I’m working on a crucial development issue of: ‘right to food’. Off late I’ve had the impression that I’m not in the best of places to pursue my interest and that my issue of concern is not appreciated enough (compared to other topics). This although had a short bout of dissapointment in me, only makes me all the more motivated to finish my pursuit here and then to move on.
Reading your words, the dream seems to so representational of my current situation even the mystery of the unknown climax……
‘Karmanye vadhikaras te maphaleshu kadachana
Ma karma phala hetur bhur ma te sanghastv akarmani’ — (Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2)
Oh I missed the interpretation,,, goes something like:
‘ Your duty is to act. The purpose of your life is to perform your duties, your actions so it supports the larger purpose of human life. You are not the cause of the results of your activities, perform your duties without considering it’s fruits. The incentive to work should not be for your own betterment and never consider not doing your duty. ‘
****
Hi Sangeetha,
I’m very interested in hearing your project on ‘right to food.’ Can you say more? and when you said ‘finish and move on’ what are you referring to? I was thinking about your snake in the box, things you want to bring to others that’s kind of exotic (right to food). thanks for sharing.
BTW I love the quote from the Bhagavat Gita. I often share this with my students in the world religions class.
Hello. My girlfriend dreamt of me playing with a snake and when I turned my back , the snake bit me on my back or shoulder blade. She dreamt this of me and it woke her up with a big shock as it was ver real to her in the moment.
Would this have a different meaning compared to if I dreamt the deam myself? Thanks , Charles
Charles, I think there ‘s a big difference if the dream were to occur to you. I am not sure what snakes represent to her but from your description, it sounds like snakes represent something of real danger to her. And it looks like she feels that you are playing with something very dangerous and that it could hurt you when you are not attentive or it could be a sense of betrayal (snake bit me on my back). Your question is very interesting because it seems that this is of real concern to her but perhaps you may not perceive this in the same manner. This is just my hunch. Let me know what you think.
Hi.. I like this site . I thought i was the only person that had dreams about snakes. Last night I dream that a red and black snake was in a tree. I was in my boyfriend car sitting with him. I told him that I see a snake up in the tree. The snake came down from tree, thru his hood of the car. I was pointing at the snake, my boyfriend start pushing me towards the snake with his feet, but I woke up.
Please tell me what does that mean?? thanks!!!
Hi,
I am only an amateur at this but I do find your dream interesting. I suspect being with your boyfriend in a car may suggest that you both are on a journey together. Not too sure what the tree may represent or what snakes on the tree represent but whatever it represents, there’s a certain level of anxiety over this journey (which has something to do with what the tree may symbolize). And when your boyfriend pushes you to deal with the snake, it sounds like whatever this problem of issue may be, you are being asked to deal with this issue by yourself. I hope this is of some help.
I had a dream about lots of snakes in a green grassy land… I’m there, suddenly I touch a green snake besides me, then it just pass… after that another brown snake I touched it too. then it just pass… Then lastly a red with black tripes snake pass beside me… It bitten the guy next to me.
Hi, I find you dream very fascinating. Of course I do not know what these symbols mean to you but if I were to guess…the green lawn is like find a place to rest but in a subtle way there are many hidden problems (many green snakes). Not being bitten is like finally managed to over come many problems (or not finally affected by them). And then brown and red…seems to me like the problems became more obvious and more serious but while the guy next to you was affected, you were not. Does this many any sense at all? Would love to hear back.
Hi. I just woke up from a dream about snakes. When I was younger, I used to have recurring dreams about snakes. I am very fearful of them in waking life. I would see them in my dreams and feel very afraid even if they never attacked me. Those recurring dreams eventually stopped. Back then, I remember that the dreams occurred at a time when I was going through something difficult for me then. This time however, I was with my little son and he got bitten in the hand. He seemed unfazed by it all but I rushed to get him to the hospital. Saw many snakes along the way (mostly white. some were coiled up on glass wall lamps in the hallway) and I tried to explain to him how dangerous they were and what their bite could to to him. Finally at the hospital, I noticed there were people in there who seemed snake-like to me and I tried to keep my son away from them. At the time I woke up, we were getting chased by some people who were targeting my son. I always wonder what dreams as vivid as these could mean.
Your dreams are so vivid with a very strong recurring theme. I suppose you are right about snakes representing something difficult. I gather that it is a little more than the term difficult. It has a much more devastating impact. And your concern for your son seems as if he is not aware of the danger he’s facing. It is funny that the snakes are white. White does seems to represent purity of sort and yet to you, it seems that which appears pure and harmless is actually very harmful. And finally the snake-like people…people who have the potential to cause harm. I wonder what transform snakes into a person? I think at some point there is a conscious recognition that the danger you face come from people who were suppose to provide healing (since the setting is in the hospital). Does this come close to what you might be going through?
The dream that I had was about a brown snake was sitting on my daughter window pane. My daughter was going to open up her blinds and I happen to see it, I had screamed at her so she can stop….that was the end of the dream
Thanks for sharing. just some clarification, she was just about to open just the blind which means there was still a glass window in between? Is this correct?
Yes there was still glass in between.
The snake sitting by the window and covered by the blind…seems to suggest your intuitive awareness of danger for your family even though it was not obvious. At the very same time even though the snake could not get in, you were still trying to protect your daughter from being exposed to it. It sounds like an awareness of potential danger and the anxiety around this potential danger even with the realization that logically it could not really create harm for your family. Does this make any sense?
I had another dream last night I was at my mother house, my mother came in the house with alot of bags of groceries. As I was standing there i heard a sound like a rattler so I begin to listen for that sound, then out came a tail from out of one of the grocery bag that my mother brought into the house. It begin to shake its tail, then from no where a white little kitten grab it from the bag and it was a brown rattler snake. The kitten had went through like a mailbox thing that was attach to the door. The kitten begin to kill it as i looked on the kitten had eatten the snake.
snakes coming out from grocery bags seems like the possible danger that can appear out of the ordinary activities of life, particularly activities that could be nourishing for the family. It is interesting that the cat came out from no where and intervened. Sounds like where as the danger is unpredictable (being among grocery) there is something out there that kind of look after you and provide protection for your family. That there is a sense in you whereby you do not have to face whatever is dangerous by yourself. This is my reading of your dream but it can have many other possibilities depending on the meaning you assign to grocery, to brown color, to snakes and cats.
i was dreaming about snake and snake bite for past 6 month but i couldnt remember it .But yesterday night i dream about it that i remember,it was like this..
it was dark in desert with rocks n sand ,my girlfriend was crying and told me something bite her and i moved small bush and i feel something bite me too.i took a light and saw rattle snake. Now we both were bitten by this snake ,i hold my girlfriend and run towards road and asked few people in car to take us to hospital but no one did.
she was little serious and i was telling to stay calm and we reach some small town and i kept her in some room and went to look for a help,i was i was vomiting some white foam from my mouth..After sometime i managed to find help and somebody was ready to take us to hospital.
When i returned to carry my girlfriend ,i saw her one arm and one leg completly bony as poison has eaten away her flesh.I put her right arm around my shoulder and then lift her ,as we were walking towards car she closed my mouth with her hand and there i was thinking ,she love me so much she want me to die with her.It ended here, and suddenly ” lottery” .thought came of it..thats it.i got up..
So what to take from dream like this?
It is kind of difficult to offer opinion when I’m not quite aware of your life situation. However if I were to guess strictly from the nature of the dream itself, my hunch is that the desert might represent desolation in life…where the two of you are out in a hard place and feel like you only have each other and no one else. Further you seem to sense a coming fatality in both your life. A danger that is of a large proportion. And no one out there is willing to help you until things get really bad then random help occurs. The beauty of this dream to me is in the midst of such vulnerability and struggle there is this beautiful love between the both of you and perhaps it is this love that will continue to sustain you. I do not quite understand the lottery part…any clarification may be helpful.
lottery part was like ..may be it was dream inside dream,on may subconcious mind, after snake bite i was out from that dream and after that i was thinking about lottery that i bought for next day.I got up after it ,i was awake and aware..
About ur interpretation ….ok little about my life at present..
I am in foreign country with my fiancee who is citizen of this country and yes its hard life and i dont know what to do .I am looking for job and sometimes i think i am lost here..
What about line where i said ,as we were walking towards car ,she started to close my mouth (choke me) and i was thinking that she love me that she wanted me to die with her..
And what about the conclusion,it was like un clear movie ending..walking towars car which was suppose to drive to hospital ,both in serious contition, one more then other and then the thoughts.
Thank you very much for sharing your life journey. Sorry to hear of the pain in your life. About the lottery, I think it is just a thought about possible resolution as you were coming off your dream. Regarding your fiancee closing your mouth, it sounds like that deep level of commitment she has for you to the very end and so is that scene at the car where you both were walking. Getting into a car toward the hospital seems to suggest a struggle for a journey toward some form of resolution. That she was in more serious condition for me seems to suggest that watching what you go through, she may actually be in more pain (hurts her to see you where you are) than you are. Just one possible interpretations.
hi,
i dreamed about snake bite this night,it was like…
i was in slipper and snake bite me in sole of my foot then after i began to run towards hospital and in between the place of my bite and hospital many different kind of incident happen..
i was running and i came across the guy i knew and he wanted to take me to hospital and we got into his car but he was not serious ,he was driving here and there,i got off from his car and started running towards hospital and again i
came across a girl i knew who is doctor, and as i was running i told her i am bitten by snake and call to hospital and tell person that you know to help me and she replied to me but you also have to report to police before and i saw her calling..AND i am still running and i am saying to myself, last time this happen to me i was saved but this time i wont survived.
I was thinking how to report to police as i dont have much time and from the way i can see the hospital ,as i was running i met my brother i stoped there and told him i am bitten by snake and i have to report and my brother took care of police thing and at same place a taxi stoped and there was this guy i know he asked what happened ,so i get in in taxi and ihim to drop me to hospital ,which i can see from taxi…….and i woke up…
What is this,it seems break everytime and i am unable to reach hospital and get treated..
Thank you for sharing your dreams. It sounds like the anxiety you deal with relates to some sort of mobility or the desire to get some place and having to face real obstacles on the path. And in this path there are people but none seems to be taking your pain very seriously and at times even was distracting from the path toward healing. Your brother seems to be the only one that took you seriously and really helped to facilitate. The final sentence makes me think of the feeling that there seems to be no solution to the challenges and the anxiety that you are dealing with.
I had a dram where in snakes were making out, what can be interpretation of same.
this is beyond me. I really have no clue what this might mean. I will try to search the web and see. My question is, what was your emotional response when you saw this in your dream?
I am a Christian women and have been reaffirming my relationship with God. I had a dream about 2 snakes. One was a beautiful blue color with diamond shapes on its back and small black eyes but I felt no fear. It did not move just looked so beautiful and peaceful. The other snake was a dark drab color maybe green. It to had diamond shapes on its back. It opened its mouth wide and I saw 2 fangs and a white slimmy fleshy mouth, but again I felt no fear…just remember the contrast of the beautiful blue snake the other drab looking one. I also have two important men in my life. One my wonderful husband of 22 years the other is a friend who I knew from school but a year ago we remet and have become close FRIENDS. He is sick and confinded to his moms home. I visit him and give him a shot of medication. I speak to him about God and hope. Please help me figure out what this all means!
Dear Susan, thank you for sharing your dream with me. I am not quite sure how to interpret this dream for you. It does appear that snakes in your dream do not represent anxiety of sort. Or it could be that you have come to term with fear or anxiety and thus it no longer have such an effect on you. In the dream you were struck more by the contrast of the two snakes. You make the connection with the two men in your life. Can you help me understand if the contrast in the dream represents the contrast in the two men in your life as well? And who might represent the colorful and who, the drab? It also sounds as if, even though you were not afraid of the two snakes, you seem pretty concern with what this dream might represent to you, especially as a Christian woman. I’m also curious as to your perception of the small black eyes in the blue color snake? What might this mean to you? Eyes represent seeing, perception etc. I wonder what small eyes mean. What does blue represent to you? I suspect your assumption is right regarding how these two snakes represent the two men in your life. Do you experience any struggle in your relationship with both? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for answering. I made the connection of the two men in my life with two snakes because the classic Freudian perspective, a snake or serpent is a phallic symbol. The eyes were small but normal sized for the snake and when I looked at them they seemed serene and made me feel peaceful. As I think of the beatuiful snake the blue may represent the sky (God) and the drab one may represent the world (sin) When it opened its mouth this may represent my belief that world can devour you if you do not stay connected to God. You see I was hopeing you could tell me if the dream was spiritual or something else. I am very happily married but I do feel pity for my male friend being sick and all alone. I sometimes have to remind him that we will always be nothing more then friends because I fear he may think or wish this friendship could be more. I do believe the dream to be more about my relationship with God that is why I want to understand it better. Can you tell me what the diamond shape may represent? Both snakes had diamond shapes on the backs. Thank you for your thoughts.
Sorry for a late reply. I was impressed by your interpretation of your dream. I searched and found that diamond shape at times may be interpreted as clarity. And so there seem to be a clear sense of clarity for you between the two options in your life, the option of spirituality and the world. The sense of peace in your seem to reflect your decision in life and your awareness of your direction. On the other hand if the snakes represent the two men I wonder if they represent one who is uplifting to you and the other who is dying and fighting for his life. And while you do care for the dying you are at peace and come to accept as inevitable.
I think snakes represent the negative sides of your mind such as your anger, grudge, hatred, etc. To conquer the snake is to be able to overcome those negative sides. It’s a change, a transformation to become a better person.
Everyone has the snake inside of them. And it starts from the mind, speech, and then actions.
Thank you for your input about snakes. I agree snakes can represent negative dimensions of us. It can also be positive such as in ancient symbolism. I think what seems significant is the interaction between the psyche and the symbol.
Hmm i wonder what a black red and? yellow striped all black snake bite means
I’m so hpy dat de way u intptd dis dream is de way things a going in my life. Thank u. But wht I dnt knw is how to help myslf. Coz de women who is after me is my girl frnd of four yrs living together. Tel me wht to do plz.
Snake bit me that was red yellow and black strips that was all shiney black i felt like i wss dieing in front of my kids i could barely talk telling my son to call 911
It was our pet and after it bit me it got loose in the apartment i remember being scared for my kids ! We were moving at the time
I m seeing snakes in my dreams from my childhood…specially when i was worried for exams or interview….sometimes i could saw results for my exams also before it was declared in dreams….whenever i m worried in my life…saw snakes in dreams & considered it god who came to help me(as i m from india & we worship snakes)….but dreams r really scary most of the times..wat to do??
Can you explain more about the statement, dreams are scary. Are you afraid of snakes in your dreams. How are the god helping you? Sometime snakes can be associated with anxiety. In this case it may mean the exam. What frighten you about exams? Why is exam very frightening for you?
Dreams are scary means snake tried to bite me but never succeed to bite me..Exams were always frightening…because i m scared of failure & any unwanted situations…ya i m very afraid of snake in dreams.
I m from India, from childhood only it was taught to us that snakes r God to help us.We worship lord SHIVA…who is with snake.
Sometimes i can predict things with the help of dreams..
I m trying to be normal with this snake & sometimes group of snake(bunch) dreams…what to do???..now this is part of life…that s why thinking like this “might b God send snake to make me aware of things or to help me”.
As i m Hindu by religion,my mother told me to read “maha mritunjay mantra” daily to pray lord Shiva for my betterment & for not to get scared in dreams.

Please reply….God bless u & give u more strength to help people.
When you try to be normal with snake, does that help? You mentioned that when you tried to see this as something sent by God to help you, why did this helpful for 2-3 days? What happen afterward? did the snakes in dreams disappeared when you see this as God sent? Is there any trigger in life that caused the anxiety to return in your dreams?
Hi I just happened on this site. I had a dream last night of seeing many snakes curling around themselves in a wall oven. My husband was scared of them, but managed to push the snakes into the oven and close the oven door. Somehow the oven door got opened again and I reached past my husband to push the snake in just as he had done, but I got bitten by a strong-looking thick brown snake on my right hand. Then the dream moved to a white room with a bathtub at the bottom. There were three people sitting in the room like newscasters saying that they weren’t afraid of the snakes, but I was hiding in the roof of the room and saw a snake on a ledge near the ceiling. The snake, which had colorful stripes spotted me and ran quickly towards me on what looked like legs and bit me on the right hand. I woke up terrified. I am very afraid of snakes, but I am also very left handed.
Thank you so much for sharing your very interesting dream. The impression I had reading the very last part of your dream was, whatever this may be it will not “kill” (symbolically) you. You will survive whatever you perceived as threatening you. It sounds like the threat is being perceived similarly by both you and your husband? I wonder what oven symbolizes for you…is it a place of sustenance (food) or a sort of career (preparation of food)…or something else? Also what does strong-looking thick brown snake mean to you? Is this in anyway associated with your sense of threat in any way? What comes to mind? Both white and bathtub to me represent some sort of purity…bathtub for washing away dirt etc. And even in this new room (perhaps after you have searched out purification or sort, the snake still appears and pursuing you. I wonder if the color of the snake represents greater threat or threat that becomes even more accentuated against white. Again the last part is very telling of you and your spirit and your ability to survive and move on even when bitten by a very poisoneous snake. Just a thought.
I normally like snakes. I was a snake owner and babysitter in college. I recently had a dream that my entire lawn was full of snakes. I was walking outside my job and trying to keep from stepping on the snakes. But I got really confused when the scenery shifted to my home. After walking around all the snakes, I went in my house and told my kids, “Be careful. There are a lot of snakes outside.” Then I woke up feeling confused. Not scared, not happy, just wondering what did the dream mean?
Hello, glad to come upon this forum where you all discuss about dreams! I dream almost every single night. And I just had a dream which I feel that it is significant. I dreamt that I was hugging and holding snake as if it was a baby. It was an orangey-pink-slivery snake. The texture is some how similar to a fish? The head of the snake was also fish-like. Not the normal head of a snake we usually see in real life. In the dream, I was just walking around holdind the snake and was looking after it. In one point in the dream, I was looking in the mirror, the snake was around my neck (like wearing a scarf) and I was adjusting it. It moved and rearranged itself and putting its head near my neck. At that moment, I felt alittle uncomfortable in the dream cz of the sensation of it moving and touching my skin. And suddenly I was very aware that its head was very near my neck and need to beware of it. And I reminded myself in the dream not to let down my guard totally, because it is still a snake and can be potentially dangerous. And because it rearranged its position on the shoulders/neck, I was afraid that it will fall off my shoulders.
Then there was another scene in my dream, my relative was also looking after a snake, she kept her snake under lock and a metal cage. In my mind I was thinking that I do not need to keep the orangey snake I was holding in a metal cage. Just in a plastic container will do, cz my snake is more well-bahaved and will not crawl out.
May I know what does this dream means? This is the first time I dream of snakes and somehow when I wake up, I feel that it is a significant dream, therefore search about it and came across this website.
HI Heidi, what an interesting dream you had. It is interesting how you indicated that you dream every nite however you think this dream is different. When dreams take on a more archetypal symbol, it, in my opinion, takes on a much more significant implications of the human psyche (and the collective as well). And snakes are one of those symbols that carry significant meaning because of its power to heal and destroy at the same time. Your dream is interesting from the start while you were holding the snake in our arms like a baby. It sounds to me like something that comes into your life that has the potential for danger and at the very same time potential for beautiful growth. And while other may perceive this as dangerous, it did not evoke the same meaning for you. Not sure about the fish part. Do you think there is something related to water or to a symbol of igsuis in Christianity? Snakes at the shoulder…I was just giving a lecture on Hinduism and what strikes me is the painting of Shiva the God of destruction and creation and his image always carries with him the snake on the shoulder. This symbol of the snake on the shoulder, in Hinduism, represents being at the center of danger and difficulties and yet remaining tranquil in the midst. May perhaps mean being at the place where even the greatest danger such as death is not able to touch you or provoke anxiety for you. It is interesting too how you fear that it could fall off instead of fearing that it can strike you. I read this to mean compassion even to the undeserving. This is totally just an attempt at reading your dream without knowing your background (which is hard to do). So it may be anything but what I’ve just said. Would love to hear back how you put these pieces together. Blessings…you surely are on a journey.
thank u solo much

Hi Sadra, I’m sorry for a very late reply. I have not bee checking my blog for a long time. You seem very concern about your dreams. What was happening in your life at the time of your dream…just curious? Were you afraid of the snakes in both dreams? Were there things in your life that was threatening you or of deep concern to you?
I had a dream last night where my entire head was covered with asp snakes. they were just slithering around not biting my head. When I tried to removed them off my head they began biting my hand. I didn’t die from their bites but it did sting.
Hi Vera, what do you take from this dream? what does it mean to you?
I had a dream last night which has me on edge, I have never had a dream with snakes or a snake in till now and to be honest I quickly forget most of my dreams unless super lucid. It seemed normal enough I was spending time with family my younger brother in fact we were just talking and joking I can’t remember about what and sudden a dark snake is wrapped around my right arm and bites my arm. The bites begins to burn and pus/foam I get a overwhelming sense of dread I start panicking but my brother doesn’t understand what has happened. Than I woke up. Any input would be really appreciated I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for sharing your dream. I’m not too sure how much of a help I can be for you. what is the significance of your right arm? This sounds like a sudden unexpected threat of sort that emerges and it also seems as if people who are close to you are not aware of this thing that you are going through. It can also suggest a possible anticipation of possible threat of sort. I am totally guessing here. Snakes have very significant symbolism. It can represent fear and threat to your life or aspects of your life. Or things you are afriad of. Snakes can also represent the symbol of healing. In an archetypal way, it is a call from your psyche to take a look at things you may be afraid of or dread to face. It is in the confronting of such fear that snakes become that symbol of healing for you. The call to recognize aspects of you that need to be paid attention to and find a voice. Sorry…not much of a help here.
Sir

I’m not too sure of the meaning. But the way you expressed yourself, this is something that took place in real-time right? What do snakes mean to you and what feelings were evoked upon the sight?
Everyday for the past few months I have dreamed of snakes little ones big ones seeing them in front of my face to even thinking I’m being followed by one because I have dreamed of them so much. I normally see them when I close my eyes right before bed. Now I’m fighting them off in my dreams preparing myself to be strong. This scares me so much because my mother tells me that it means I have enemies and should be careful. My question is this, is everyone my enemy because its all around me. My ex boyfriend tries to come in my life all the time and when he hangs around I don’t dream of the snakes. as soon as I’m alone and he’s not in my thoughts I dream of the snakes all around me again. uhhh this is not fun at all. could you help me with this one.
Hi sophia, thanks for sharing your dreams. what is going on in your life right now? sounds like you are facing many big and small anxiety provoking challenges in life coming from every direction and it can be overwhelming. I suspect they do not represent your enemies. It is kind of interesting when they do not appear when your boyfriend is around. Is it possible that his presence is a buffer against challenges that you are facing? Can you identify some of these challenges that you are currently facing?
Hi…wold like to share ma experiance..

i too had a dream of same kind whr i was bitten by two snakes and thn it turns tht iit wasnt poisoned or wsnt harmfull and the scens tht i was visuallising was in a zoo.

So as initiation has two explainations
Both fit right in.
initiation
ɪˌnɪʃɪˈeɪʃn/
noun
1.
the action of admitting someone into a secret or obscure society or group, typically with a ritual.
“rituals of initiation”
synonyms: beginning, starting, commencement; More
2.
the action of beginning something.
Hi, interesting dream and interesting interpretation of your dream. thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it. Just wondering what you make out of the scent of the zoo in your dream in relation tot he two incidents you mentioned.

Last night I had a very vivid dream. My family was vacationing in the mountains and my 2 young daughter’s decided to explore around our hotel while my husband napped in the room. We (me and my daughter’s) walked down a hill into a grotto/cave area filled with water. Upon exiting it there was a larger red and black guarding the exit and it struck my wrist forearm area and it left a large gapping hole in that area. To my suprise it didn’t hurt and the girls were and safe. My husband appeared and escorted me to the hospital. I was just about to see the doctor when I woke up. Any ideas what this could mean?
not too sure but how about engaging in some adventure or risk with possible negative consequences. And that risk turns out to be real but surprised by how the negative consequences do not have such a devastating impact on you. That you survived pretty well. Does this resonate with anything in your life at all?
Hello Sirojs, I had a dream, where i am sitting down in home.yellow snake climbs on me from fornt and bites on my left shoulder, then my father pulled the snake away from me. It doesnt pain and i dont die. I am so cool. Please let me know the meaning and is it a dangerous sign ?
Thank you for sharing your dream. I’m not a dream interpreter. And it requires much more understanding of the context of the dream and your personal history. What does the color yellow and left hand represent to you? It also appears as if you saw the snake climbing but you were not scared of the snake. It sounds like there are challenges you face (perhaps at home) but you are not fearful of the challenge and you know you have good support from home. And you not only survived but you thrived after facing this challenge. Just some thoughts.
I dreamt I was on my way to a hotel in on a mountain when I got to the room snake jumped out from a towel on the side table next to the bed and tries to bite my children. I caught it and threw it out the window but it bit me on the inside of both my palms and spoke to me, but I don’t know what it said. I rushed to a doctor, 2 ladies but they were in no rush to help me the bites on my hands got so infected they popped open and puss ran out and they immediately started to heal. Still the ladies didn’t pay mush attention to me kept telling me to calm down.
What an interesting dream. Don’t know all the meaning but seems as if in trying to protect your children you got into trouble. And when you try to get some help no one pays attention. They misread you. Or rather you were misunderstood. But then you have inner resources that provide healing for you. Does this make sense. Would love to love to hear your thoughts on this.
I was invited over to a mans house in my dream I was sceptical and scared , when we arrived in my dream there were other men , I became more afraid. At some point I was surrounded by water and among the water and the shores there were snakes every where as I sat down I was bitten on my right butt check but a snake not sure of its color but not big in size. I wasn’t sure I was bit my a snake or sat on something that punctured my right cheek but ultimately I woke up immediately after , and was quite scared. What does or did that dream mean.
Not a dream interpreter but water is often referred to as the unconscious dimension of one’s life. That think learking underneath we are not quite sure what it is but in your case it seems something is bothering you and you are not too sure what that is. The fear of the potential harm and yet the possibility that it may be nothing after all. But the fear dominates. The existential angst that one experiences. pay attention to the snake again and get the description the next time you see this in your dream.
I had a dream of a snake crawling my right shoulder, the colour was brown and white and I tried to remove it and it just went as that snake was in my house I had to follow him to get out of my house, I saw it was a small little bird which was trying to fight it and sent him off and it then start attacking her but nothing just happened I suddenly find myself Infront of my friends explaining them bout the snake and telling them to look at me closely if it has bitten me or not but it didn’t. After a while I realised it was my dream and immediately after some minute the place where I was sleeping i found myself sleeping in my dream and a black n white butterfly coming towards me and she sat on my lips I felt her weight and I tried to blow air and flew her up and suddenly when I woke up in the same place I saw I m just dreaming… it made me so curious that I m just searching for answers that wat it really means, I m damn sure it means a lot…
